The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES), founded in 1987, is a public entity supervised by the Ministry of Environment, Energy & Climate Change in Greece, and has financial and administrative independence. CRES is active in the fields of renewable energy sources, rational use of energy and energy saving, while its main aim is to promote technological applications in these fields, both at a national and international level. CRES was appointed as the National Centre for Coordination in the fields of its activity. It acts as the technical advisor to the corresponding ministry, contributing to the transposition of the Energy Efficiency Directive into the Greek legislation and to the implementation of energy efficiency measures and policies.
