The Energy Agency in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) organized a workshop on 15 January 2016 in order to determine the possibility of including a monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) platform in the national energy efficiency policy of the Republic of Macedonia.
Participants were stakeholders from the field of energy efficiency. Speakers included representatives from the Ministry and GIZ as well as guests from Croatia and MACEF. Prof. Dr. K. Dimitrov (MACEF) presented the project multEE (H2020) and accomplishments related to the Republic of Macedonia, such as management schemes for energy efficiency and the level and quality of application of the “Bottom-Up” method. Draft conclusions confirm that the platform would benefit Macedonian energy efficiency policy and thus should be adopted. Accordingly, preparation of the necessary secondary legislation should be commenced and an operator should be appointed. It is worth mentioning that the initial experiences with testing the MRV platform in the Republic of Macedonia and Croatia served as a strong impetus for the EU to fund the three-year research project, MultEE.
